Since 2007, Dr. Meta has run a private practice in Buenos Aires focused on dental implant placement, oral rehabilitation and general dentistry, with a significant share of English-speaking expatriate patients. Since 2008 he has been the suggested dentist of the U.S. Embassy in Argentina for U.S. citizens and Foreign Service personnel stationed in the country. Over the years he has also treated diplomats from more than 10 countries, an experience that has broadened the cultural perspective he brings to his clinical practice. His office coordinates directly with several major expatriate and international insurance providers, and works alongside two orthodontists for combined treatment plans.
Dr. Meta's research record began before he ever reached Ohio State: as a student at the University of Buenos Aires, he co-authored two peer-reviewed studies on bone biomechanics under Dr. R.M. Alippi. That early experience led directly to a fully-funded, three-year fellowship at The Ohio State University (2004–2007), where his MS thesis characterized bone phenotypes in the mandibles of high and low bone-mineral-density mice, advised by Dr. Sarandeep Huja — work that produced two further papers as first author, published in the Journal of Periodontology and Calcified Tissue International. A fifth peer-reviewed paper followed later in private practice: a 2017 randomized controlled trial on analgesic protocols after dental implant placement, published in Implant Dentistry. Alongside these five publications, he has presented fourteen conference abstracts in the U.S. and Argentina between 2000 and 2017, and has served as an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of Periodontology and Orthodontics and Craniofacial Research. Dr. Meta taught at the postgraduate level in Buenos Aires from 2003 to 2023. He chaired Oral Implantology Clinics I–III in the MS in Oral Implantology program at USAL/AOA from 2012 to 2021, directed the predoctoral Biophysics program from 2012 to 2016, and held teaching roles in the Department of Periodontology from 2008 to 2015. He has supervised two completed MS theses on guided bone regeneration and served on three additional thesis committees.
In 2008, he translated chapters of Clinical Periodontology and Implant Dentistry (Lindhe, Lang & Karring, 5th edition) from English to Spanish for Editorial Médica Panamericana. He is a member of the Argentine Dental Association (AOA), the Argentine Society of Periodontology (SAP) and the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), and has presented research in both Spanish and English at meetings in Buenos Aires and at Ohio State's Mallory-Coleman Resident Research Day.
